President Trump reneges on word to build pipelines with US steel choosing Russian steel products instead.
The president intimated on several occasions that the Keystone XL pipeline, as well as the Dakota Access pipeline, would be made will U.S. steel, creating thousands of manufacturing jobs.
He signed executive orders greenlighting the State Department to continue talks at the same time he issued a mandate that ‘all new pipelines’ be produced in the United States.
Press Secretary Sean Spicer said that the time that Trump was commanding his not-yet-confirmed commerce secretary, Wilbur Ross, to do a ‘study looking into building the Keystone and Dakota Access pipelines, as well as any other future pipeline with U.S. made steel and pipe and accessories.’
Now the White House says the Trump order will not apply to the TransCanada project because the Keystone pipeline is already under construction. More details here from the Daily Mail.
