President-elect Trump calls CNN fake news in a rampage with attacks against media at first press conference, further damaging freedom of press!
Trump was also far off base in his rampage against CNN, calling it a fake news organization and insulting its top people. Unlike BuzzFeed, which published the memos themselves, CNN purposely did not.
Instead, it broke an important and legitimate news story — that four of America’s top intelligence chiefs last week informed President Obama, Trump and congressional leaders that the memos were in wide circulation. Read the full story from David Gergen at CNN here.
As David Gergen points out, clearly the president-elect is attacking the wrong person. Is he venting anger at his nemesis, the free press as a whole or simply CNN, and how will this help him going forward? What is your opinion?
Donald Trump tweeted out another lie on Thursday morning saying the Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, contacted him “to denounce the false and fictitious report that was illegally circulated.”
Trump was referring to the CNN bombshell report that claims Russia has compromising information on him.
Clapper had this to say about the call in a statement: “the IC has not made any judgment that the information in this document is reliable, and we did not rely upon it in any way for our conclusions.”
Clapper never said the report is false. Clapper said:
“This evening, I had the opportunity to speak with President-elect Donald Trump to discuss recent media reports about our briefing last Friday. I expressed my profound dismay at the leaks that have been appearing in the press, and we both agreed that they are extremely corrosive and damaging to our national security.
We also discussed the private security company document, which was widely circulated in recent months among the media, members of Congress and Congressional staff even before the IC became aware of it. I emphasized that this document is not a U.S. Intelligence Community product and that I do not believe the leaks came from within the IC. The IC has not made any judgment that the information in this document is reliable, and we did not rely upon it in any way for our conclusions. However, part of our obligation is to ensure that policymakers are provided with the fullest possible picture of any matters that might affect national security.
President-elect Trump again affirmed his appreciation for all the men and women serving in the Intelligence Community, and I assured him that the IC stands ready to serve his Administration and the American people.”
The president-elect continues to tweet lies, this time about his meeting with US intelligence officials. How will this impact his presidency? What is your opinion for Trump’s purpose in lying to the American public about Clapper’s call to the president-elect? Is this this simply another lie, a misstatement or part of a Trump propaganda campaign?

Trump Busted Using Empty Fake Folders As Conflict Of Interest Docs At Press Conference
Trump said, “So this is all — just so you understand, these papers — because I’m not sure that was explained properly. But these papers are all just a piece of the many, many companies that are being put into trust to be run by my two sons that I hope at the end of eight years, I’ll come back and say, oh, you did a good job. Otherwise, if they do a bad job, I’ll say, “You’re fired.”
It turns out that the papers were blank, and the folders were empty. The whole plan to avoid conflicts of interest was another empty Trump scam.

US Intelligence says Russia may have collected compromising personal information on Trump, and the President-elect responds with “Fake news – a total political witchhunt!”
January 10, 2017
Breaking news on several media outlets reported today that America’s intelligence agencies last week presented President Obama and President-elect Donald J. Trump with a summary of unsubstantiated reports that Russia had collected compromising and salacious personal information about Mr. Trump, two officials with knowledge of the briefing said. The summary is based on memos generated by political operatives who sought to derail Mr. Trump’s candidacy.
President-elect Trump claims via Twitter the US intelligence information is “fake news” and is a political witchhunt.
In an appearance recorded for NBC’s “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” Mr. Trump’s spokeswoman, Kellyanne Conway, said of the claims in the opposition research memos, “He has said he is not aware of that.”
Trump spokeswoman Kellyanne Conway consistently distorts the truth and contradicts what US intelligence agencies have clearly reported. How does her denials and obfuscation help shape the presidenct-elect’s image and ability to lead?
Does Trump understand the concept of online “fake news?” Is he trying to re-define news as something he doesn’t agree with as now “fake news?” Please add your comments below.
President-elect Trump claims all the dress shops are sold out in Washington. It’s hard to find a great dress for this inauguration” in attempts to bolster huge turnout at upcoming inauguration!
To further prove that the Jan. 20 event will yield a huge turnout, Trump claimed that “all the dress shops are sold out in Washington. It’s hard to find a great dress for this inauguration.”
Yet, as the Washington Post’s Emily Heil noticed, D.C. is actually home to hundreds of dress stores that carry plenty of styles fit for the upcoming inauguration. Heil spoke to representatives of shops from high-end department stores to luxury boutiques to ask about dress supplies and found the president-elect’s remarks seem to be a stretch.
