President Donald Trump’s chief strategist Steve Bannon has been fired
CNN Politics is reporting President Donald Trump’s chief strategist Steve Bannon has been fired, two White House officials told CNN Friday.
A source told CNN that Bannon was given the option to resign but was forced out. White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed Bannon’s departure but did not say whether he was fired or resigned.
“White House Chief of Staff John Kelly and Steve Bannon have mutually agreed today would be Steve’s last day. We are grateful for his service and wish him the best,” Sanders said in a statement.

Trump purportedly threatens to block CNN – Time Warner merger for its perceived betrayals of favorable news coverage of presidency!
The NY Mag is now reporting:
But CNN is a journalistic enterprise. Or, at least, it plays one on TV. And so when a politician spews vicious, obvious lies on a near-daily basis — and directs a good portion of that venom at the free press itself — CNN’s anchors and reporters feel compelled to correct and condemn such mendacity. And that makes the president feel “betrayed.”
So, now, his administration is openly threatening to punish the network by sending the Justice Department after its parent company. As the New York Times reports:
White House advisers have discussed a potential point of leverage over their adversary, a senior administration official said: a pending merger between CNN’s parent company, Time Warner, and AT&T. Mr. Trump’s Justice Department will decide whether to approve the merger, and while analysts say there is little to stop the deal from moving forward, the president’s animus toward CNN remains a wild card. Trump asking for voter data from all states, 44 have denied so far this Independence Day weekend — Trump’s Commission cannot be trusted.
CNN is now reporting forty-four states have refused the Trump administration’s request for certain voter information, according to a CNN inquiry to all 50 states.
State leaders and voting boards across the country have responded to the letter with varying degrees of cooperation — from altogether rejecting the request to expressing eagerness to supply information that is public.
“Numerous states are refusing to give information to the very distinguished VOTER FRAUD PANEL. What are they trying to hide?”
The information the commission is seeking includes registrants’ full names, addresses, dates of birth, political parties, the last four digits of their social security numbers, a list of the elections they voted in since 2006, information on any felony convictions, information on whether they were registered to vote in other states, their military status, and whether they lived overseas. Education Secretary Nominee Betsy DeVos may have plagiarized Obama administration official’s press release.
Democrats have submitted hundreds of questions to Education Secretary Nominee Betsy DeVos. In response to a question from Sen. Patty Murray, the top Democrat on the committee, on bullying of LGBT students, DeVos almost directly — and uncited — quoted Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Vanita Gupta, head of Obama’s Civil Rights Division at the Justice Department.
The questions — which totaled over 1,000 — were answered in DeVos’ name, but it’s unclear what role aides and staffers played in answering the queries.
“Every child deserves to attend school in a safe, supportive environment where they can learn, thrive, and grow.”
Gupta was credited with nearly the same quotes in a May 2016 press release on ensuring the civil rights of transgender students.
“Every child deserves to attend school in a safe, supportive environment that allows them to thrive and grow.”
